  1. I love this point of view of Malcolm X. We hear & we’re taught so much negative connotations of him. I like to hear from those who were close to him. He had his stance on things and it’s not wild to stand on what you believe in.

  2. i love how this shows a different side of Malcolm x many outlets paint him out to be a bad guy. One thing malcolm never did was give up, no matter how upset people got he always stood up and fought even harder to see change.

  3. Many attempted to paint Malcolm X as race baiter and a radical. Although he may have been radcial he was both well read and curious. The documentary sheds light on Malcolm X’s inner world, and paints hime in a more truthful and positive light.

  4. Everyone always refers to Malcolm X as a radical figure and write him off but in reality this shows that he truly cared about his people. His situation was the reason why he held his opinions and at the end of the day he just wanted his people to be treated right. Also I like how this shows how the people around him thought of him which i think is the best way to see how a person is.

  5. The Malcolm X I see here was more than just a “violent” protester as everyone made him seem. He really cared about African Americans and really wanted to see change. Even though many people didn’t agree with some of the things he did he really fought for equality for blacks. Which is well respected because he wanted his people to not be looked down upon.

  6. The documentary shows a different Malcolm x than what was portrayed in the media. Many people thought he was a bad guy but he just wanted equality. The fact that he got betrayed like that from his own people and someone that he trusted is sad.

  7. This documentary really shows a different image of Malcolm X, compared to how he is portrait in history. He is basically a radical historical figure and this documentary shows him as being more than that. He was actually a great leader who fought for his people and did what was best for them no matter what anyone said. He was so brave and it shows in this documentary.

  8. In history many people create this image of Malcolm X being this radical activist that committed violence against all non blacks. When truly Malcolm X believed in black people having their own everything and bond as a community and stop reaching for approval from white people. Also he was not violent at all compared to some “peaceful” activist who carried weapons of all times.

  9. Really good documentary!!! Not really into recommending people watch stuff but I highly recommend this one…especially for those who have not read the ‘Autobiography of Malcom X’ This documentary shed lights for me on things I found rather difficult to understand from reading the book. Thank you Dr. James…

  10. This was a compacted biography of Malcolm X, the visuals make the words of the autobiography a little more understandable. After viewing the video and learning more about the circumstances of the events my perspective of Malcolm changes, he was portrayed as a menace to the American civilization. In actuality he was a shy man who took the time to understand not only the discrimimnation and systematic racism blacks faced in america, but also the dynamics of ethnic groups around the world. I often wonder if white people really know about how they contribute to the discrimination. It took black people a long time to wake up and realize they were getting the short end of the stick, Americans have been taught since they were born that this is just how things work. Would they actually want to take ownership of the things they have done. Will they ever?

  11. This was a very insightful documentary and in a way to me it brought Malcolm X’s autobiography to life. We can clearly see where the people who were closest felt about everything he described in his autobiography. To this day he is still being criticized when if people were to really listen to him and educate themselves they would know better. Above all else that’s what he wanted for Black people was to know the truth even though this took him on many different paths that people still don’t understand (or choose to understand) and lead his fellow Muslims to be against him. He wasn’t violent but it seemed that way to those who choose to be ignorant and refuse to open their eyes.

  12. This was a very powerful documentary, because it showed the real Malcolm X and not what he was really seen as in the history books. He was a leader who stood his ground no matter how somebody else felt about it. His outspokenness and his drive to fight for what he felt really mattered is how he really became Malcolm X.

  13. Thank you for providing this platform for many of us to see Malcolm X as more than a radical, historical figure on an poster or a page in a book. I was deeply moved by this opportunity to witness him as not only the visionary and the activist, but to obtain a glimpse of the multifaceted individual whose character and intentions are still being attacked today. Growing up, I’d heard Minister Farrakhan speak several times, but never realized that his speaking style was patterned to deliberately sound like (and very likely to arouse feelings like) Malcolm X. I’m very appreciative of the fact this offers a way for people to see Malcolm X from an open, reflective perspective by those who were closest to him.
