SCOTTSBORO

  1. This system is flawed and not helpful to most POC. It doesn’t make sense that even with evidence , still went to jail. I don’t see how they can hate that bad. The system to this day is still corrupt. They do what they want because they know 8/10 they will get away with it.

  2. The Criminal Justice system from what I can see has been built against minorities especially against African Americans. It is sadening that these boys had to go to jail for a crime that they did not commit. It is sickening that while you are under oath you still lie about innocent lives. The judgent should have been fair and seen through the evidence rather than the color of skin and the voice of someone who never changed their story when the other person who stated the same story changed it in the end.

  3. The system has always been built against black people, the system has never been equal and justice has never been given to our kind, it sickens me to my stomach how they can lie on someone so innocent and cost him his life. This video was very informative because growing up i never knew of the scottsboro. The judge was very biased and judge based off of race. my heart is hurting.

  4. It sucks to see that even to this day, this type of stuff is happening. With all evidence proven and laid out, the system will always find a way to defend whites even if they’re in the wrong. It just doesn’t make sense.

  5. It’s ridiculous how they can lie on an innocent man and end his whole life. This system isn’t build for African Americans already as it is then having racist people lie on you just adds fuel to the fire. I just know African Americans who went through these horrible cases just knew they weren’t going to win unless they had someone on their side and it wasn’t many time they did.

  6. Sad but definitely not shocking. One thing the south has always hated is thought of a black man with a white woman. The juries decision was solely based on race.

  7. This is really sad, and what’s even more sad is there’s people that still do this type of stuff in today’s society. Our people have been through so much, it’s crazy that we are always a target even when we aren’t doing anything. It really shows how others who aren’t our color view us.

  8. Painful to see how even with all the evidence proving their innocence, that racism and bigotry prevailed in a court of law even though the boys were eventually freed.

  9. It is crazy how vindictive some people can be towards black people. To go through all of this for innocent people to be punished and have a bad image placed upon them is not only unfair, but biased and unreasonable.

  10. This is what people nowadays refuse to acknowledge when they are confronted with blatant situations of abuse of power and systemic racism in the justice system. It was never meant for people to be free, it was to create workers. This is just one instance of proof and evidence for the fear of interaction with the law within black and brown communities. But people wanna say “its gotten better”. How insulting. It takes the power of an entire political movement with a completely different agenda (CPUSA) to just get the ball rolling. At every turn theres an obstacle, these boys were told they were guaranteed death 3 times! I tried to wait a little while before replying to see if I would be less angry, and im not.

  11. I do not think these two white women were raped by the 9 nine black men at all. It all sounds more like false accusations than anything else and the evidence appears to support the false accusations too For example, the women showing little to no bruises to the medical examiner. Also, the narrative seems to suggest the same as well…

  12. This situation is all too common in the United states. Every time this happens black men are used as political tools and pwans in national politics. This is truely a scar in American history.

  13. This situation was really sad and messed up. It hurts my heart that even now white people still make accusations/false reports about African Americans to the police.

  14. This video really triggered me because of how much white privilege these people had. The evidence that was being supported did not make sense at all and yet those nine men were found guilty four different times. They had an all white jury that did not care for black people so people pretty much knew what the end results were going to be. All in all, it was about racial discrimination from the beginning up until the end.

  15. This documentary is not only a learning experience (because to this day many are not educated on Scottsboro or know of Scottsboro) but, it also shows how some people just have so much hate in them that even with evidence saying the story was a lie, they were still stuck on killing those boys. The fact that Victoria Price died still believing that she was telling the truth (and probably many others) is sad to think about. The amount of inconsistencies and evidence showing she was lying and yet there was still no true justice until many MANY years later can still be seen today. There are countless black people serving time over rape allegations that are not true and some are lucky enough years later to be freed. Although they are freed, these people lost time of their life that they will never get back and all they get for it is a basic apology.

  16. This documentary was very eye opening. The way the system works and making innocent men go through this is sad! Having all the evidence and everything they killed someone. Simply by not making someone look bad and end their reputation.
